Inner tube or tire puncture

The wheel loses air after a puncture, quickly or slowly.

You can fix it · Estimated time: 10 minutes

Tools you need

  • Tire levers (×2)
  • Spare tube
  • Pump or CO₂
  • Self-adhesive patches

How to fix it, step by step

  1. Take the wheel off. If it is the rear one, shift to the smallest sprocket first to make it easier.
  2. Hook one lever between tire and rim, then run it around to free one whole side.
  3. Pull out the tube and find the puncture (inflate it a little and listen).
  4. Check the inside of the tire: glass, thorn, or nail that stayed in. If you don't remove it, you'll flat again.
  5. Fit the new tube or stick a self-adhesive patch on the old one. Insert the tube with a little air in it.
  6. Seat the tire back on without pinching the tube. Inflate to the correct pressure (check the sidewall).
