Camino de Santiago bike route planner

Bicigrino is a cycle touring company specialised in the Camino de Santiago by bike. This planner was built by people who ride the Camino every year and rent bikes for it: it is not a walking pilgrim’s planner adapted after the fact, it is a tool designed from the start for riders on a loaded bike. You build your own stages, see the real elevation of each day, know what surface to expect, and carry it all on your phone with GPS navigation that works without coverage.

What the planner does

  • Splits the Camino into custom stages based on the days you have and your fitness.
  • Shows the elevation profile of each day, with cumulative gain and loss.
  • Flags the surface type: tarmac, packed trail, dirt, cobbles, sand.
  • Locates bike shops, water points, accommodation and pharmacies along the route.
  • Works offline: maps, track and stages stay saved on your phone.
  • Calculates battery range if you ride an e-bike.

Available routes

The Camino Francés is the busiest route: roughly 780 km from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela, with an official 13-stage Bicigrino plan. The Camino Portuguese Coastal follows the Atlantic shoreline from Lisbon to Santiago, roughly 639 km in 11 stages, with gentler elevation and milder summer temperatures. If you would rather build everything from scratch, the manual planner lets you choose every stop and adjust the kilometres stage by stage.

Why riding it is different

A walking pilgrim covers 25 km a day and can go wherever they like. On a loaded bike, a stretch of sand or loose stone changes the day completely, and an 800-metre climb is not solved by willpower. That is why the planner shows the surface and the effort of each stage before you set off, marks the technically difficult sections of the Camino Francés and suggests road detours where they are worth it. And if something breaks on the road, the on-the-road mechanics works offline on your phone.

Bike rental

Bicigrino rents five types of bike for the Camino — mountain bike, gravel, front-suspension e-bike, full-suspension e-bike and AMFLOW — with 24/7 technical support included, pick-up and drop-off along the route and optional luggage transfer between stages.
